ACTIVITY CALENDAR

The monthly calendars are decided during the member’s monthly meeting. Participants propose and vote on the activities they would like to see scheduled in the coming months.

L'Échelon celebrated its 30th anniversary with an open house in May 2024!

Everyone pitched in to welcome community members and partners alike to introduce them to the organisation and its mission.

WORKSHOPS

Various activities

Some examples of activities include:

  • Hiking, snowshoeing and swimming
  • Bingos
  • Community meals
  • Monthly birthday celebrations
  • Occasional outings

Workshops and shared support discussion groups

Workers and members alike will prepare and lead activities related to the interests or issues that affect our members, such as:

  • Various discussion groups: “Let’s talk mental health”
  • Occasionally we offer Relief workshops allowing the development of self management and empowerment over such realities as living with
    • Anxiety
    • Depression
    • Bipolar disorder

Food security and community kitchens

Food security : Every week our volunteer participants prepare low-cost meals to enjoy on site and in good company.

Community kitchen : In addition, once a week some of our members come together to pool their resources and prepare dishes to share.

Gardening

Gardening nurtures mental health by reducing stress, promoting mindfulness and fostering a sense of accomplishment and connection with nature.

Those interested have access to a community garden where they can grow crops for themselves, with support if needed.

Art classes

We benefit from the support of an extraordinary artist, Nadia Bertrand, who hosts and offers workshops of all kinds to our members on Wednesday afternoons.

It is a time and place where people allow themselves to try new things, explore their creativity and nurture their self-esteem.

Yoga and meditation

Every Tuesday morning, we have the precious contribution of Nicole Boucher, who offers a yoga workshop, followed by a guided meditation. This Zen moment is suitable for all levels and accessible to everyone.

PAAS program (Programme d’aide et d’accompagnement Social)

The PAAS program is a social integration program in partnership with Service Québec. Participants in the program get involved with the intention of progressing towards future employment. Through the various activities and contributions they make, they develop the skills and confidence required for their future endeavours.

Free time and coffee always possible

A friendly environment is accessible most of the time for those who just want to stop by, have a coffee, play a board game or chat.
